NARRATIVE
A nihilistic interpretation of Martin Heidegger’s essay “The Question Concerning Technology” penetrates content and form to immanently represent the sterilization of life induced by digital technology. Inspired by the essay’s elemental characterization of technology, this alienated one-person narrative shot on 16mm exploits religio-symbolic imagery to advance a messianic reckoning — with technology, by technology, for technology. Conceived as destined, contemporary technology in this narrativized attack suggests one end: destruction of life. 6 minutes.

EXPERIMENTAL
Digital video, B&W 16mm, Super 16mm hand-processed color: a three part experimental provocation of contemporary capitalism. First, in the aspect ratio of 1.85:1, a hyperreal institution represents a capitalist configuration of society reproduced by spectacle. Next in 4:3, the Superhero emerges as vanguard of the spectacle. Then in 1.66, the spectacle collapses in spectacular fashion, subverting the confines of capitalist representation. 20 minutes.

COMMERCIAL DOCUMENTARY
For Flamingo New York. Matt and Bogdan are the Gnarmads, a skateboarding duo from New York. In 2014, they set out on their bicycles across America. They lived off the grid and tapped into an underground network of skateboarders across the country. With local skaters, they built ramps and obstacles in the DIY spots that exist underneath America’s highway overpasses, in derelict parking lots, inside inconspicuous warehouses, and even deep in the woods. They built a community of individuals bound not by geography but rather by a shared state of mind. In pedaling to California, they were building Gnarvana – a way of life, a utopian vision, a model for us all. 20 minutes.
